Thalassemia major is a genetic disorder where the child presents with severe anemia in infancy requiring lifelong blood transfusion. Screening of parents during pregnancy is must to diagnose Thalassemia Major in the pre natal period. Allogenic BMT is the curative treatment for Thalassemia Major.
